Language Arts and Public Speaking
LANGUAGE ARTS “EXCEL”ERATION AND PUBLIC SPEAKING (L.E.A.P)™
What? If your child loves to read and/or write or needs to become engaged in the wonder of words enroll now. This class will help develop skills in identifying inference and tone, building vocabulary and increasing reading comprehension and speed. Students will create short stories and poetry for SEC website postings* and students will be introduced to the basics of public speaking. Study skill building and test taking strategies will also be emphasized. * With instructor selection and parental permission
Why? Keep reading and writing skills sharp to help students hit the ground running in the Fall 2012. Start next year at the head of the pack. Gain confidence in language skills and start to develop a “fierce” vocabulary. Be secure in your 2012 study plan and make the L.E.A.P. this summer.
Who Should Enroll? If your 6th, 7th or 8th grade Fall 2012 child loves to read and/or write, or needs to build essential language skills, enroll now.
When & Where?
Summer School 2012
Session 1- June 11 to June 28, Monday – Thursday, 9 AM – 1 PM
Mountainside Middle School: 11am-1pm OR
Scottsdale Education Center: 9am-11am
(Combine with Science OR Spanish class for remainder of the day)
Session 2- July 9 to July 26, Monday – Thursday, 9 AM – 1 PM
Scottsdale Education Center: 11am-1pm
(Combine with Math Olympics OR Spanish class for remainder of the day)
